Best College Soccer ID Camps in California 2026
The California college soccer ID camps families ask us about most — ranked by division level, upcoming dates, parent reviews, and value. Updated weekly.
California is one of the hardest states to search well because the camp market is huge and the geography is brutal. A family in San Diego might be looking at a very different trip, budget, and school mix than a family in the Bay Area or around Los Angeles. We built this page to give that search some editorial judgment, not just a long undifferentiated list of registrations.
California has the largest concentration of college soccer programs in the country, from Stanford and UCLA to dozens of D2, D3, and NAIA programs. The state's massive youth soccer ecosystem makes it a recruiting epicenter. We track every ID camp, showcase, and combine across the state so families can compare options in one place instead of piecing together school pages one by one.
Why families trust this page
Our goal is to help families quickly separate true recruiting opportunities from expensive but vague camp options. IDCampFinder is run by a coach-founder, and the site is edited with the same questions families ask in the car ride home: which staff was actually there, what level is this for, how far is it worth traveling, and is the price justified by the exposure?
How we rank camps
For California, we weight division level, timing, cost visibility, and review signals, then present the strongest options in one ranked guide. We do not claim personal attendance where none exists, and we do not sell ranking position.
Founder perspective
John Hull built IDCampFinder after seeing how hard it was for recruiting families to compare camp options quickly and honestly. The goal is simple: clearer camp info, less wasted money, and fewer blind registrations.

Top Soccer Programs in California by Division
Division I: California's D1 landscape is the largest in the country. Stanford and Cal compete in the ACC, while UCLA and USC compete in the Big Ten following recent realignment. San Diego State (Mountain West), UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, Long Beach State, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, and CSU Bakersfield form a strong Big West and Mountain West contingent. The West Coast Conference adds Santa Clara, San Francisco, Saint Mary's, Pepperdine, LMU, San Diego, and Pacific. Sacramento State (Big Sky) and San Jose State (Mountain West) round out the Northern California D1 picture.
Division II: The CCAA (California Collegiate Athletic Association) anchors the state's D2 scene — Cal Poly Pomona, CSU East Bay, CSU LA, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU San Bernardino, Chico State, Sonoma State, Stanislaus State, San Francisco State, and Cal State San Marcos compete at a competitive D2 level with athletic scholarship opportunities. The PacWest Conference adds Azusa Pacific, Biola, Concordia (Irvine), Fresno Pacific, Point Loma Nazarene, and Vanguard.
Division III: SCIAC (Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) is one of the most respected D3 leagues in the country. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pomona-Pitzer, Chapman, Occidental, Redlands, La Verne, Whittier, and Caltech combine elite academics with competitive D3 soccer. Cal Lutheran is also a SCIAC member and a regular national contender.
NAIA: William Jessup, Westmont, San Diego Christian, and a handful of other faith-based or smaller programs compete in NAIA conferences with scholarship flexibility.
California Recruiting Regions
Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange County, Inland Empire): The most program-dense region in the state. UCLA, USC, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State, Pepperdine, LMU, Cal Lutheran, Concordia (Irvine), Azusa Pacific, Biola, and the SCIAC schools (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Pomona-Pitzer, Chapman, Occidental, Redlands) are all within a 60–90 minute drive of central LA. Traffic is the real constraint — plan camp visits around the rush.
San Diego: San Diego State, USD (University of San Diego), UC San Diego (D1 since 2020), Point Loma Nazarene, and San Diego Christian form a tight cluster. SDSU camps consistently sell out, and a San Diego trip can cover three to four programs across D1, D2, and NAIA without a long drive.
Bay Area: Stanford, Cal, San Jose State, Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Saint Mary's are within a 60-minute radius. Stanford camps are among the most competitive in the country and fill very early. The Peninsula and East Bay D3 options are limited compared to the Northeast, but Cal and Stanford anchor the elite D1 picture.
Central / Northern California: Sacramento State, UC Davis, Pacific (Stockton), Chico State, Sonoma State, and Stanislaus State serve the Sacramento and Central Valley regions. Lower travel cost than the major metros and less crowded camps.
How Much Do ID Camps Cost in California?
California camp costs reflect both program prestige and the state's high cost of living. Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Cal residential camps typically run $500–$800 for multi-day sessions — among the most expensive in the country, but the recruiting exposure at this tier is significant. Day camps at the same programs run $200–$400. Big West and Mountain West D1 camps (San Diego State, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State) are more accessible at $200–$400. WCC D1 camps (Santa Clara, USF, Pepperdine, LMU, San Diego) typically run $200–$350. CCAA D2 camps are excellent value at $125–$250 per day. SCIAC D3 clinics are often $75–$200 with strong coach-to-player ratios. Travel tip: Lodging in coastal Southern California and the Bay Area is expensive year-round; out-of-state families often save by flying into Burbank (BUR), San Jose (SJC), or Sacramento (SMF) instead of LAX or SFO.
Best Time to Attend ID Camps in California
Most California D1 camps run from late May through early August. Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Cal camps open registration in January–February and competitive sessions can fill within weeks — book early, especially for women's programs. Big West and Mountain West camps run through June and July with more availability. WCC programs often spread camps from late June into early August. CCAA D2 and SCIAC D3 programs often run camps and prospect days into late July and August with some spring and fall ID events. Heat is a real factor in the Inland Empire and Central Valley by mid-July; coastal programs (UCSB, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, USD) stay cooler. Pro tip: California's geography rewards a planned trip more than most states. A Bay Area circuit (Stanford → Cal → Santa Clara → San Jose State → USF → Saint Mary's) covers six programs across multiple divisions in one long weekend. A Southern California circuit (UCLA → USC → Pepperdine → LMU → Long Beach State → Cal State Fullerton) is similarly efficient if you can manage LA traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What are the best college soccer ID camps in California for 2026?
- The top-rated college soccer ID camps in California include camps from Stanford, UCLA, USC, and more. See our full ranked list above, sorted by division level, upcoming dates, cost, and parent reviews.
- How do I choose the right ID camp in California?
- Consider your recruiting level (D1 vs D3), budget, travel distance, and whether the head coach attends. Read parent reviews to learn which camps provide genuine recruiting exposure vs. large-group clinics with minimal coach interaction.
- Are third-party ID camps worth it?
- Third-party camps like Future 500, ID Sports USA, and College Soccer Prospect ID bring coaches from multiple schools to one location. They're efficient if you're exploring options across divisions. School-specific camps are better if you're targeting a particular program.
- How much do soccer ID camps in California cost?
- Costs vary widely. Single-day clinics start around $125-$200. Multi-day residential camps at D1 programs can run $400-$800. Multi-school showcases typically cost $200-$400. Check individual camp listings for current pricing.
- Is it worth flying to California for ID camps if we live out of state?
- California is realistic for out-of-state families because the program density is so high. A single trip to the Bay Area can hit five or six programs across D1, D2, and D3, and a Southern California trip can cover a similar number. The trick is to base your trip around a metro (LA, San Diego, or the Bay Area) rather than chasing camps spread across the whole state — California is bigger than most families realize, and inter-region drives can eat a full day.
- What youth clubs in California produce the most college players?
- California has one of the deepest youth soccer ecosystems in the country. Top ECNL and Girls Academy clubs include LA Galaxy SD, Slammers FC, Real So Cal, Beach FC, and Albion SC in Southern California; De Anza Force, Mustang SC, MVLA, and San Juan SC in Northern California. MLS NEXT clubs include the LA Galaxy and LAFC academies, San Jose Earthquakes Academy, and Real So Cal. The state's college rosters across every division lean heavily on California-developed players.
